Commissioned work
Everything Red Letter Tables builds is made to order for one client. Because a commissioned piece cannot be resold as stock, orders are non-cancellable once the build begins — that is, once you have approved the drawing and, where applicable, the engraving proof.
Approvals
We do not cut wood on a verbal maybe. Construction starts only after you approve the drawing in writing. Engraved work requires a second approval of the vector proof and, where we cut one, the test sample. Approved artwork is what gets carved — please read proofs carefully, including spelling, verse references, and logo versions.
Deposits and payment
A deposit of [Deposit %] is due at drawing approval and is non-refundable once material is purchased and milling begins. The balance is due [Balance Terms]. Accepted methods: [Payment Methods].
Wood is a natural material
Color, figure, mineral streak, knots, worm track, and bark inclusions vary board to board — that variation is the product, not a defect. Solid hardwood also moves seasonally with humidity. Minor movement, checking at an end grain, and finish patina over time are normal and are not covered as defects.
Lead times
Quoted lead times are estimates made in good faith and measured from approved drawing. Material availability, engraving revisions, and freight scheduling can move a date. We will tell you as soon as we know.
Delivery and risk
Local delivery is white-glove and placed in the room. Freight shipments are custom-crated and insured; risk passes on delivery. Inspect your piece on arrival and note any transit damage on the delivery paperwork — that documentation is what a freight claim needs.
Craftsmanship guarantee
We guarantee our joinery and construction for as long as the original client owns the piece. The guarantee covers our workmanship. It does not cover normal wear, finish patina, seasonal wood movement, damage from misuse, heat, standing water, or from a change in environment such as prolonged low humidity.
Intellectual property
You are responsible for holding the rights to any logo, artwork, or imagery you ask us to engrave, and you confirm you have permission to use it. We retain the right to photograph completed work for our portfolio unless you tell us in writing not to.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [State]. Any dispute will be resolved in [Venue].
